FAQs from the Author – Dr. Sohil Makwana
Q: What inspired The Whispering Delulu?
A: The story was inspired by a real psychiatric case that blurred the line between science and spirituality. I merged neuroscience, Indian mythology, and futuristic technology to explore how the human mind can be both a weapon and a wonder.
Q: What makes The Whispering Delulu unique among psychological thrillers?
A: It’s not your everyday “hallucination or husband is killer” plot. This novel fuses psychological suspense, mythological symbolism, and sci-fi intrigue, creating a mind bending mystery where delusion and reality intertwine.
Q: Why do readers call you “The Viral Doctor” and “Thriller King”?
A: During the Corona pandemic, one of my photos went viral internationally with more than 400 Million impression worldwide, symbolising hope and courage among healthcare workers. The name “The Viral Doctor” stuck. As for “Thriller King,” it came from readers after the success of my Murdrum Duology and The Sleepwalker’s Lullaby, both redefining Indian forensic and psychological thrillers.
Q: Is The Whispering Delulu connected to your previous novels?
A: Though standalone, it shares the same DNA of tension, intellect, and emotion as my earlier thrillers. Each book delves into a new psychological or scientific mystery that tests the human mind’s limits.
Q: What message does the novel leave readers with?
A: That the mind is both laboratory and battlefield. Whether one descends into delusion or rises to divinity depends on what they choose to believe.
Q: Does the book draw from real science?
A: Yes, heavily. The neuroscience, psychiatric pills, and futuristic technologies in the story are rooted in real medical research, making the fiction eerily plausible.
Q: Will The Whispering Delulu be adapted into a film or web series?
A: The cinematic structure was intentional. Having worked as an assistant director on the Marathi psychological horror film Bali, I designed this novel visually. In fact, I write screenplays first, so all my novels are elaborated from screenplays, which is why my readers often visualize them as fast paced movies.
